The short version
Browsing this site is anonymous. The check-your-agent lookup never stores what you search or whose record you check. The only time we collect personal information is when you submit a form yourself (the find-an-agent interest form or the email-me-the-checklist button), and we tell you exactly what happens to it below.
The lookup
When you search a name, the query runs against our copy of public government records (license registries and the Minnesota Department of Commerce's published enforcement actions) and returns the result to your browser. The query is never written to a database or a log we keep. Our analytics record event names only (for example, "a lookup was completed"), never the name you searched. Server logs kept by our hosting provider (Vercel) may record IP addresses for security and are retained per their standard policy.
The find-an-agent interest form
If you ask to be connected with an agent, we collect the name, phone, optional email, city, buying-or-selling choice, timeline, and note you provide. We store it together with a record of the exact consent language you saw. Your request may be shared with one participating licensed Minnesota real estate agent, and every request is reviewed by a person first. Featured agents pay a flat advertising fee; we receive nothing from your transaction, and no agent pays us per client, per referral, or per closing. Your information is never sold, and it is never shared more widely than the consent language you agreed to.
The checklist email
If you ask us to email you the checklist, we record your email address with the consent language you saw, send you one copy, and log that the send happened. You are not added to any list, and there is no newsletter. If you have ever asked us not to email you, we honor that suppression across every Buddy site.
The public records we republish
License and enforcement records on this site are public government data, republished with sources and last-checked dates. We do not edit them at anyone's request, and no one can pay to change what their record shows. If you believe a record is inaccurate, the authoritative correction path is the issuing agency; contact us and we will also recheck our copy against the source. Statements of disagreement filed with Commerce under Minn. Stat. 13.04 appear on Commerce's own site.
